I provide provide strategic to field-level technical support to ensure that projects under development for the Global Environmental Finance (GEF) Unit of UNDP, avoid environmental and social risks and optimise integrated environmental and social benefits. Currently focused on developing projects for the Green Climate Fund (GCF) from concept to full feasibility, which cover a range of approaches to climate change adaptation and mitigation. For these projects I identify the level of risk and probability (risks categorization) and provide design guidance across sectors and geographies. I prepare comprehensive Environmental and Social Management Plans, including mitigation measures that cover biodiversity conservation, water resources, public health, labor, livelihoods, pollution prevention, social inclusion, grievance mechanisms and institutional arrangements. I also lead the preparation of Indigenous People’s Plan, Stakeholder Engagement Plans and Gender Assessment and Action Plans.
I also act as Senior Expert on Extractive Industries Governance for UNDP, looking at how large capital flows impact biodiversity conservation and human development. Previous to working primarily for UN agencies, I worked in the Private Sector, leading large-scale Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for projects (including mining and hydropower) with a particular focus on vulnerable groups, human rights in impact assessments, and integrated environmental management.
